What configuration options are available?

CheckMAX-mv supports a variety of configuration options for remote branch operations. Hosting CheckMAX-mv on the Windows 2000 platform provides the widest variety of options, including the ability to access the internet or a corporate intranet, e-mail, collaberation software, and off-the-shelf productivity tools like spreadsheets and word processing. A Windows 2000 Professional Workstation-based remote branch can connect inexpensive ASCII terminals or form a local area network with WIN9X or other Windows 2000 workstations. Remote branches in a metropolitan area may be networked over a wide-area-network on one CheckMAX-mv server with real time data updates.

What function does the CheckMAX-mv Host System serve?

The CheckMAX-mv Host Server is the management control center for enterprise-wide remote branch operations. All transaction-related parameters, e.g. rates, percentages, minimum or maximum allowable amounts, date controls, and security limits are initiated from the CheckMAX Host System. Management may employ a very strict or a flexible operational philosophy through the controls applied from the Host System.

The CheckMAX-mv host server also provides a consolidated database of the entire enterprise. Through 'transactional replication', all information at all remote branches is available on the Host System in exhaustive detail. Most CheckMAX-mv users don't bother with the time and expense required to perform backups at remote branch locations. The CheckMAX-mv Host System can completely restore a remote database in the event of a system failure (up to the last business day).

The consolidated host database is invaluable in producing a wealth of information on customer demographics, financial activity, marketing effectiveness, and geographic analysis. The host database also provides source information for data warehousing, modeling, and interfacing to accounting and financial subsystems. Database reporting is produced by company, region, division, and branch. The detailed data may be also be sliced and diced by date range affording a wide range of summarization possibilities. The host database may also be accessed by ODBC aware business analysis tools.

What are the major advantages of the CheckMAX-mv architecture?

In two words or less, FAULT TOLERANCE! The architecture of the CheckMAX-mv environment eliminates total reliance on third-party communications networks which do fail from time to time. All remote branches in a CheckMAX-mv enterprise can continue to operate if the Host System were unavailable for an extended period of time (ice storm, hurricane, power failure, etc.). Likewise, the host unit provides secure backup for remote branches which may fail due to hardware glitches, fires, or other disasters. We've even restored Host System databases from remote branch systems in cases where the host database was lost and no recoverable backup was available. With CMAX assistance, the client was able to recover the host database from over 600 remote branches in less than 24 hours. The MIS director was a very happy individual!

What security and audit functionality exists within the CheckMAX-mv System?

Each function in the system has an associated privilege level and audit flag that is matched to the user code of the individual entering the transaction. The transaction is rejected if the user doesn't have the proper authority. The assignment of user codes and function privilege levels is controlled from the Host System. Certain functions may have multiple security levels allowing different ranges of capability depending on the operator's authority, e.g. overriding a deposit date.

All transactions are tagged with the user code information and stored on the host system for future reference. The CheckMAX-mv security system allows management to deploy its strategy in a very strict or a flexible manner, depending on the skill level available at remote branch locations.
