The CheckMAX dial-up risk
assessment service is a feature of the CheckMAX Remote Server software that,
like most other remote server features, requires setup on the host server as
well as some possible attention to the remote server's modem. Check with
CMAX to ensure you have the latest release of this feature before attempting
to install. The following instructions outline the remote server's modem
setup expectations and the necessary setup steps on the CheckMAX Host software
for each location:
MODEM SETUP
- For modems purchased
from CMAX, Inc., no additional setup should be required. For 3Com/USRobotics
Sportster 56Kbps and 3Com/USRobotics Courier V.Everything modems, be sure
that dip switches 1, 4 and 8 (found on the back of the modem) are in the down
position and all others are in the up position. For proper Risk Assessment
communications, as well as nightly polling using The Laguna Connection, CMAX
also recommends that the power-on defaults be configured as AT&F2X1 and saved
under NVRAM position 0 (zero) using the AT&W0 (AT&W for Courier V.Everything
modem) command. For modems other than the Sportster or Courier, contact CMAX
Technical Support at (423) 476-9148.

The remaining entries will
vary from client to client based upon security and score card setup issues.
You MUST setup at least one score/max. check amount entry. See the 'help'
screens for more information (?H) or Call CMAX Technical Support.
- After entering the setup
information in screen 4, return to screen 1 (S1) and "P"ost the changes. When
the Download Transactions screen appears, be sure to include the store just
modified in the list of stores to receive the update. Remember, under normal
processing, downloaded transactions are transmitted to the stores via the
nightly polling, but are not posted to the remote server's database until
they either run an end-of-day process or execute the 'Process Downloaded Transactions'
program under the System Maintenance Menu.
- You may secure the Risk
Assessment update feature by entering a new security code for the CS100.CM.RA
screen. This is done through the Security Codes selection found under the
Miscellaneous Maintenance Menu of the CheckMAX Host System. See the 'help'
screens for more information (?H) or Call CMAX Technical Support.
